A Dream Career at Ernst & Young, World’s Big 4 Accounting Firm

Meet Caecilia Lidya Supianto, an alumna of the Harapan Bangsa Business School Accounting Study Program who has recently been recruited by Ernst & Young (EY) Indonesia and promoted as an Assurance/Auditing permanent staff member after an internship of only 6 months.

After a long path of history that dates back to one and a half century ago, EY has grown into one of the four biggest professional audit and accounting firms in the world. In Indonesia, EY is the first service corporation to book total revenues of over IDR 1 trillion. Developing a career as a permanent staff member in a corporation with the biggest number of professionals in the country is a prestigious achievement. As a leading world-class corporation, EY recruits only the best accounting graduates.

It was easy to predict Caecil’s future success. She was a Rector Scholarship awardee and her excellent academic records made her eligible for a campus-funded study tour to Singapore. HBBS’s best 2015 graduate, Caecil admits that being an activist in her study program’s students association and following a training program at ITHB Career Resource Center were among the most important factors that helped her transform from a passive into an enthusiastic student. She added that HBBS students are very lucky because the curriculum of the Harapan Bangsa Business School (HBBS) always adapts to the current industrial trends.

During her internship at Ernst and Young, thanks to everything she had learned from the career and character development programs at HBBS, Caecil was able to adapt herself to the professional environment. As a training auditor then, Caecil felt that basic accounting and auditing knowledge was very important for her in performing her daily tasks. Caecil also added that the leadership, communication, and teamwork training programs from CRC had given her the confidence when she had to work with new people or deal with unexpected situations.

Maintaining a position at EY is indeed a remarkable achievement for EY is well known for retaining only a small number of interns as permanent staff members.
