Tech in Asia (TechinAsia.com), one of the largest English-language tech and startup media companies in Asia, has acquired GameSaku.com from App Foundry Pte Ltd for an undisclosed sum. GameSaku is one of the largest and fastest-growing gaming blogs in Indonesia.
Following the acquisition, GameSaku founders Hendri Salim and Glenn Prasetya are set to help Tech in Asia grow its upcoming new vertical, Games in Asia (GamesinAsia.com), in Indonesia.
GameSaku currently focuses on mobile games in Indonesian, but will eventually expand its coverage to PC and console gaming in partnership with Games in Asia, which will cover the English-language Asian gaming scene.
GameSaku co-founder Hendri Salim is an engineering alumnus of Institut Teknologi Harapan Bangsa’s Industrial Engineering department. He graduated in 2008, having been well known throughout his studies as a smart, energetic student with passion and good character.
GameSaku was founded in 2012 with a mission to help readers find great games in app stores. Beginning with a focus on iOS, it has since expanded to cover games on all smartphone platforms, from Android to Windows Phone. Within 16 months, and with just two full-time editors, the site was attracting over 800,000 monthly page views, with readership growing at more than 15% each month.
“We see a lot of potential in gaming in South-East Asia, so Games in Asia is a natural step for us,” says Willis Wee (pictured), Tech in Asia’s founder. “With Hendri and Glenn in our team, we are confident that Games in Asia will grow well in Indonesia.”
“We are excited to be part of Tech in Asia, a media startup which truly understands quality content and the potential of the gaming industry in this region,” says Hendri Salim. “Having followed Tech in Asia’s progress closely through its online content and conferences, we strongly believe in its mission and culture, and we look forward to working with the team to make Games in Asia a success.”
