Career in Japan : A proof of our readiness in the global era

Working in Japan has become one step closer for Indonesian fresh graduates, as one of Japan based company ISFnet, ties the know with one of the leading telematics university in Indonesia, the Bandung based Institut Teknologi Harapan Bangsa (ITHB).

The opportunity to kick off career in Japan is widely open, thanks to the certification program offered by ITHB, one of them is CISCO CCNA which available for Information Technology (mobile technology, media and internet technology) department. The existing of the information technology certificate, becomes one of the plus point and therefore has drawn attention of ISFnet to try to snare the opportunity securing the service from ITHB students.

The program itself offers any qualified students to get experience, career prospect and also a good financial compensation compared to the fresh graduate salary package in many of Indonesian based companies. Meanwhile, students must pass several steps before officialy getting a contract with ISFnet. First of all they must prepare a CV and resume, updating their latest activities to be assessed by ISFnet. The next step would be interview session, in which there are two high ranks ISFnet officers tackling the issue, having a direct communication with all the candidates. Mr. Maeda and Mr. Guo, both from Singapore ISFnet branch, are the two representatives to stage the interview.

Having been assessed during the interview sessions, the students must then attend an ISFnet appointed language institution for a Japan language class for a year. The purpose is to ensure candidates are able to communicate with the locals up to the business conversation level.

It is highly expected that within a year, all candidates would complete the language proficiency class and ready to be sent to Japan and start their professional career. Working in Japan is sometimes very demanding as the work ethic is quite different with another countries, including Indonesia. Therefore ISFnet apply some conditions for all the new comers. One of them is the very strict of no resigning policy for the new employee up to the first two year at the office. Once this period of two years has been completed, then the company will offer its Indonesian employees the opportunity to choose their career path. The options are to stay and work in Japan, or asking a transfer to another country, department or just inter branch move.

For this year, everyone within the university were caught in surprise. ISFnet has set their plan to accomodate only 15 students from Electrical Engineering Department or Computer System Department. But then things changed in a blink of an eye and as a result, 28 students were finally recruited to join the world wide company. It’s a huge vertical leap in terms of number. At the end of the day as things turned out, Information System and Informatics Engineering students were among the late nominee that was included to make up “the out of plan” 28 highly achievers, good character and passionate students joinning ISFnet.
